GTA V's cheats work in single-player (Story Mode) and can be entered by dialling a phone number in-game or, on PC, by typing a word into the console. The phone numbers work on every platform. None of them work in GTA Online. This page lists the most useful cheats, with the code and phone number for each, plus how to enter them and what to watch out for.
How to enter a cheat
- Phone (PC, PlayStation and Xbox): open your in-game phone, dial the number (they all start with 1-999) and press call. A short message confirms the cheat is active. Wait for the call to connect before dialling anything else.
- PC console: press the tilde key (~) to open the console, type the code exactly as shown and press Enter.

Things to know before you use cheats
- Save first. Some cheats, such as a raised wanted level or drunk mode, are hard to undo mid-mission.
- Trophies and achievements. Cheats can stop trophy and achievement progress, so skip them if you're going for 100% completion.
- Story Mode only. Cheats don't work in GTA Online.
- Not every cheat works during every mission. A few are blocked in certain story missions.
Why isn't my cheat working?
- Check the digits. Phone cheats fail on a single wrong number. The numbers above are the keypad spelling of the PC code, so you can re-derive them: on a phone keypad, 2 = ABC, 3 = DEF, 4 = GHI, 5 = JKL, 6 = MNO, 7 = PQRS, 8 = TUV, 9 = WXYZ.
- Make sure you're in Story Mode. The phone cheat numbers do nothing in GTA Online.
- On PC, open the console first. Press the tilde key before typing, and check your keyboard layout.
- Is a mission active? Some cheats are disabled mid-mission. Try again in free roam.
Frequently asked questions

Can I get banned for using cheats? In single-player, no. Online, don't use any cheating tools.
Are there cheats for GTA Online? No. Online play is run on Rockstar's servers, and the story-mode cheats are disabled there.

Marathon session?
Long gaming nights wear you down. A quick freshen-up between rounds helps more than you'd think — here's where to spray so it lasts through the night, and what "rizz" means if your squad keeps saying it.
