Obsessed Before We Were Official!

There was never really a moment when we decided, “Okay, we're going to start a perfume brand.” It was more like we became obsessed first and figured out what to call it later.

It started with four friends who were already spending way too much time talking about fragrances. What we liked. What we hated. What got compliments. What smelled incredible on paper but completely different on skin. Why some perfumes stayed in your head for days while others disappeared the second you walked out of the room.

We kept talking about it. Then we started testing things. Then we started talking about testing things. And somewhere along the way, the conversations stopped being about what we wanted to wear and started becoming about what we wanted to create.

WE WERE NEVER NORMAL ABOUT FRAGRANCE.

For most people, perfume is pretty straightforward. Find something that smells good, spray it, leave the house. For us, it became a problem.

We'd smell something and immediately start picking it apart. What's that note? Why does it work? Why does it smell better after an hour? Why does this one get compliments every single time? Why does something that sounds amazing on paper end up smelling completely forgettable?

And then there were the perfumes we couldn't stop thinking about. The ones that didn't smell like everything else. The ones with something slightly strange about them:

  • Too dark
  • Too sweet
  • Too loud
  • Too addictive

The kind of fragrance you couldn't quite explain, but you knew you'd remember.

That's what we became obsessed with.
Not just smelling good. Being unforgettable.

BEFORE THERE WAS A BRAND, THERE WAS A FEELING.

We didn't start with a logo. We didn't start with a bottle. We didn't start with a website. We started with a feeling.

The feeling of walking into a room knowing you smell fucking incredible. The feeling when someone stops you to ask what you're wearing. The feeling of finding a fragrance that somehow feels more like you than anything you've worn before.

We wanted to bottle that.

The more we talked about it, the clearer it became that we didn't want to make fragrances that simply smelled “nice.” Nice is easy. Forgettable is easy too. We wanted personality. We wanted contrast. We wanted fragrances that could be sweet, dark, playful, seductive, reckless or completely inappropriate for the occasion.

Basically, we wanted perfumes with the same problem four friends have when they are left alone with too many ideas: no filter.

THEN WE STARTED MAKING IT REAL.

This was the part where being obsessed stopped being fun and started becoming work.

Ideas are easy when they're still ideas. You can change everything in five minutes and nobody has lost anything. Making an actual perfume is different.

There were samples that sounded perfect and weren't. Notes that worked beautifully together on paper but not on skin. Versions that were almost there but still felt wrong. Names we loved until we saw them written down. Decisions that somehow took four people an unreasonable amount of time.

And because there were four of us, every decision came with four opinions. Which sounds like a nightmare. Sometimes it was. But it also meant nothing got through just because one person liked it. We kept pushing things until all four of us could look at it and say, “Yeah. That's it.”

That's how RIZZ CLUB started taking shape. Not from one perfect idea, but from hundreds of small decisions, arguments, experiments and moments where we refused to settle.

WE DIDN'T WANT ANOTHER PERFUME BRAND.

There are already enough fragrances that smell good. Enough bottles that look expensive. Enough brands telling you that their perfume will make you sophisticated, irresistible, mysterious or whatever else the marketing department came up with that morning.

We wanted to make something with a pulse. Something that felt young, unpredictable and a little dangerous. Something where the name made you curious before you even smelled it.

Because if you're going to wear something every day, why should it have to be boring?

A fragrance should have a personality. And maybe yours should too.

THE NAME CAME LATER. THE OBSESSION DIDN'T.

That's probably the simplest way to explain RIZZ CLUB.

The club didn't exist yet, but the obsession already did. We were already talking about scents like they mattered. Already imagining what we'd create. Already arguing over what belonged and what didn't. Already thinking about the person who would wear it and the reaction they'd get.

The brand came later. The obsession came first.

And maybe that's why we don't want RIZZ CLUB to feel like just another perfume company. Because it wasn't born from a business plan. It came from four people who couldn't stop talking about fragrance long enough to leave it alone.

So yeah, we were obsessed before we were official.
The bottles came later. The obsession was always there.
