The First Batch

There's something about making the first batch of anything that feels slightly insane. Until that point, everything exists in your head. The names are ideas. The bottles are samples. The fragrance is something you've tested on strips and skin. You can still change your mind, start over, or pretend the whole thing was just an idea.

Then you make the first batch.

And suddenly, it's real.

For us, that moment was a little terrifying. After months of smelling, testing, changing, arguing, second-guessing and going back to the drawing board, we finally had to make the fragrances that would actually become RIZZ CLUB. Not a sample. Not a trial. Not something sitting in a lab bottle with a handwritten label. The first proper batch.

THIS WAS THE ONE WE COULDN'T FUCK UP.

The first batch carried a weird amount of pressure. These weren't just perfumes anymore. They were the scents we had spent all that time obsessing over. The names we'd debated. The formulas we'd gone back and forth on. The bottles we'd imagined when RIZZ CLUB was still just an idea between four friends.

And now we had to make them.

There's no hiding behind "we're still working on it" when you have a production batch in front of you. Every detail suddenly matters:

  • The juice
  • The fill
  • The bottle
  • The label
  • The packaging

Everything has to come together exactly the way you imagined it.

Except, of course, it never does the first time.

Something always needs fixing. A detail looks different in real life. A colour doesn't look the same outside the screen. A piece of packaging doesn't sit quite right. You notice something you hadn't even thought about before. So you fix it. Then you check it again. And then, because you're probably slightly insane, you check it one more time.

WE SMELLED EVERYTHING.

By the time the first batch was ready, we had smelled these fragrances more times than we could count.

But somehow, the first proper bottles felt different.

We sprayed them again. On skin. On strips. In the room. Then we waited. Because a fragrance isn't what it smells like for the first thirty seconds. We wanted to know what happened after an hour. After three hours. What stayed. What disappeared. What got better.

And then came the most important test: would we actually wear this ourselves?

The answer had to be yes.

Because if we were going to put RIZZ CLUB out into the world, it couldn't just be something we thought other people might like. It had to be something we genuinely wanted to wear.

FOUR PEOPLE. A LOT OF OPINIONS.

Making the first batch with four childhood friends meant there was never going to be a quiet decision.

Someone always had an opinion.

Sometimes that was exactly what we needed. When you've been staring at the same bottle, label or fragrance for long enough, you stop seeing it properly. Another person catches something you've completely missed.

Other times, it meant four people standing around debating a detail that probably didn't deserve twenty minutes of discussion.

But that's how the first batch came together. Not perfectly, not effortlessly, and definitely not without arguments. Just four people caring way too much about getting it right.

THEN WE SAW THEM ALL TOGETHER.

That was probably the moment it hit us.

Seeing the bottles together, knowing the fragrances inside them had gone through months of work, made the whole thing feel different. This wasn't the idea anymore.

This was RIZZ CLUB.

The thing we'd been talking about for so long was suddenly sitting in front of us, ready to leave our hands and end up on someone else's shelf, skin, desk, bag, bathroom counter or bedside table.

That part is exciting. And slightly terrifying.

Because once someone else wears it, it isn't completely yours anymore. It becomes part of their story.

THE FIRST BATCH WILL ALWAYS BE DIFFERENT.

There will be more batches. More fragrances. More ideas. More things we'll probably obsess over far more than necessary.

But the first batch will always be the first.

It's the one that took the idea from four friends talking about perfume to an actual brand. It's where the late nights, arguments, samples, mistakes, decisions and ridiculous amount of overthinking finally became something you could hold.

We don't know where RIZZ CLUB goes from here. But we know where it started.

With four friends. A ridiculous obsession with fragrance.
And one first batch we refused to fuck up.
